Leon, Decatur County, IowaSquire Samuel Brooks, eldest son of Larinda and McDonald Brooks, was born in Harrison county, Missouri, May 12, 1872, and departed this life, Oct 4, 1933, in Leon, Iowa, at the age of 61 years, 6 months, and 8 days.
He was united in marriage to Jennie Brooks, Feb 7, 1898, and to this union were born 12 children, four preceding him in death, viz; Sarah, Asa, Gerald and Roy. He leaves to mourn his departure his devoted wife, aged father, eight children, Harry, Albert, Richard, Sam, Frank, Mrs. Cecil Stubbs and Mrs. Jess Nicholson all of Leon, and Mrs. Kimler of Knoxville, Iowa. One brother Charles Brooks of Leon, two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Stone of Leon and Mrs. Mary Bibley of Omaha, Neb., five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends also survive him.
Funeral services were held at the Stewart Funeral Home conducted by Geo. R. Lamb, pastor of the Pentecostal church. Interment being made in the Leon cemetery.
