Shannon Marie Brogden, daughter of Michael David and Nancy Lou (Higgason) Brogden, was born Sept. 30, 1971 at Rochester, Minnesota and died following a car accident on April 13, 1996 in Decatur County, Iowa at the age of 24 years.

Growing up Shannon and her parents lived at Chester, Minnesota; Ankeny, Polk City, and the Weldon, Iowa for the past 20 years.

She graduated from Central Decatur High School in 1990. Then she attended Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa where she became a licensed practical nurse. She recently signed up to start the registered nurse program.

Shannon has been working an an LPN at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa since her graduation. She first worked in the West Wing with long term care patients, but for the past year worked in the hospital patient care area.

Shannon was a very outgoing, people person. She always was cheerful, happy, and had a smile on her face. She loved being with her family and friends, but she also enjoyed travel - from her recent trip to Tempe, Arizona to four wheeling in Oklahoma with Tanner. Shopping was one of her favorite activities. She had a talent for doing artistic work, whether it be room decorating, drawing, painting, or doing crafts. Shannon had the feminine side which loved Victorian styles, cosmetics, and perfumes, and then she had the outdoors side which enjoyed four wheeling and horses.

Preceding her in death were her two grandmothers; Mamie Brogden and Jeri Higgason; and her uncle Tom Brogden.

Survivors include her parents, Mike and Nancy Brogden; brother Tanner Brogden; and sister Annie Brogden, all of Weldon; two gradfathers: Orville Higgason of Eldora, Iowa and C.E. Brogden of Leon, Iowa; three aunts: Denise Hazelwook and husband Ron of Eldora; Vicki Higgason of Yonkers, New York; and Sue Brogden of Merced, California; and cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

[Interment was made at Leon Cemetery.]
