Mrs. Ronald Dwight Bowman, 78, a resident of Billy Sunday Retirement Home, 6120 Morningside Ave., died Saturday at the home after a long illness.

Mrs. Bowman, the former Maybelle Grace Bright, was married to Mr. Bowman, a former Journal Associated Press maintenance man, Sept. 25, 1907, in Iowa City. She was born Nov. 11, 1887 in Iowa City.

The Bowmans resided in Omaha before coming to Sioux City in 1937. Mrs. Bowman was a member of Morningside Presbyterian Church and Ruth Circle and Sunshine League of the church.

Surviving beside the widower are several nieces and a nephew.

The Bowmans, who resided at 1815 S. Palmetto St., observed their golden wedding anniversary Sept. 25. They vacationed in Florida.

Mr. Bowman was employed for 35 years by the Associated Press before his retirement in 1948. He was employed as teletype and wirephoto operator for the Sioux City Journal-Tribune doing similar work to that which he did for the AP at the Sioux City Journal before his retirement.

The Nelson-Berger Funeral Home of Morningside has charge of the arrangements. Interment was made at the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.
