Obituary ~ Minerva V. (Baker) Bennett
August 20, 1850 ~ July 24, 1934

Minerva Baker, daughter of Wesley and Mary Baker, was born in Indiana, Aug. 20, 1850 and departed this life July 24, 1934, at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 4 days.

She came to Iowa with her parents when a child. She was coverted and united with the Baptist church and lived a faithful life.

She was united in marriage to William Bennett in the year 1865. To this union eleven children were born, two dying in infancy, Mack dying at the age of 23 years. She leaves to mourn her departure eight children, James of McGrath, Minn., Samuel of Humeston, William of Corydon, Jesse of Leon, Mrs. Mary Walters of Downsville, N.Y., Lyda Allee of Corydon, Allen Worden and Lizzie Jenkins of Leon, 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, two sisters, Lyda Simmons of Bulo Neb., and Rebecca Leeper of Stanton, two brothers, James and Jasper Baker of Leon and a host of other relatives and friends. Three brothers and one sister preceding her in death.

Aunt Sis, as she was commonly called, was a kind and loving mother. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. She will be greatly missed by all, but was ready to meet her Savier.

Funeral services were held at the Stewart Funeral Home, conducted by George R. Bamby, interment being in the Leon cemetery.
