Theda Ostie daughter of William Martin and Arabelle Wallace Hinds, was born Sept 19, 1895 in Decatur County Iowa, and died at the Decatur County Hospital, Leon, Iowa Dec 11, 1976 at the age of 81 years, following hospitalization for a heart condition.

She was married to John Westley Baker July 24, 1914 at Des Moines Iowa. To this union ten children were born. They farmed north of Leon before moving into Leon in 1933.

Theda was a member of the Leon Christian Church and Leon Garden Club.

Preceding her in death were parents, husband John in 1972; four sons; Gilbert Wallace, Max Layton, Leland Ronald and John Jr; three daughters; Mary Delphine Jordan, Hilda Arabelle Akers, and Eula Muriel Gamble; three grandchildren; brother Melvin Hinds; three sisters Delphia, Marie and Wilma Ann.

Survivors include three children; Sarah Geraldine Foland and husband Hartzel, Des Moines: Paul Wesley and wife Enid, Osceola, Iowa; and Vere Ronald and wife Ruth, Grandview, Mo.; 20 grandchildren 22 great grandchildren, one sister, Sarah Rhoades [remainder of obituary illegible.]
