Obituary ~ Winnie Kathleen (Dobson) Allard
May 23, 1903 ~ September 12, 1993

Winnie Kathleen Dobson, the youngest daughter of George Washington and Margaret Frances (Durgan) Dobson, was born May 23, 1903 near Grand River, Iowa, and died September 12, 1993 in Leon, Iowa at the age of 90 years.

She was a member of the Catholic Church. Her greatest enjoyment was caring for children.

On March 15, 1922 Winnie was married to Charles Edgar Allard. To this union four children were born: Leo Everett, Mary Katherine, Fern Irene, and James Edgar.

She was preceded in death by her infant son Leon Everett; her parents; sister Harriett Marie Gibson; and her loving husband.

She is survived by her children: Katherine and Graydon Griffin of Decatur, Iowa; Fern and Carl Priest of Villisca, Iowa; and Jim and Eileen Allard of Moore, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren: Carl Lee Priest and wife Ruth of Mt. Moriah, Missouri; Karen Conn and husband Burt of Rock Rapids, Iowa; Kay Hill and husband Ron of Leon, Iowa; Sherry Minssen and husband Dave of McClelland, Iowa; and Mitch Allard and wife Shelly of Cypress, California; Bruce Allard and wife Sherrie of Redmond, Oregon; and Nick Allard of Moore, Oklahoma; 15 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, September 16, 1993 at 2:00 p.m. at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home of Leon, Iowa, with Rev. Bob Gibson officiating. Pianist Ruth Scott accompanied a quartet consisting of Graydon Griffin, Imogene Bruner, Kay Hill and Dora Rumley. Musical selections were "Rock of Ages" and "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder."

Casketbearers were Rex Gibson, Bill Hill, Ron Hill, Steve Hill, David Minssen and Jeff Seeley.

Interment was made at Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.
