IRENE HENRY DIES

IRENE HENRY, R. N., known and loved by many in Leon and Decatur county, died at the Decatur county hospital Tuesday afternoon from an extended illness. She was a charter member of the Leon Business and Professional Women’s club. Besides her sister, Mrs. ESTHER PLEUSS, of Leon, she leaves a brother, PATRICK HENRY, of Marysvale, Utah. Funeral services at the Stewart Funeral Home at 2:00 p. m. Friday. Burial in Leon cemetery.

OBITUARY

IRENE HENRY, daughter of CALVIN HENRY and ANNA HENRY was born in Des Moines, Iowa January 22, 1883, and passed away at the Decatur County hospital February 1, 1945.

She moved to Leon and attended the public school, later taking nurses training at Christ’s Hospital, Topeka, Kansas. She became Superintendent of Nurses at Spearville, Kansas, hospital. She devoted her entire life to the profession of nursing. She was a member of the Leon Christina church, Eastern Star and Business and Professional Women’s Club.

Two sisters, Mrs. LIZZIE LANGREEDER and Mrs. ANNA MILLER preceded her in death.

She leaves to mourn her passing one brother, PATRICK HENRY, Marysvale, Utah and one sister, Mrs. ESTHER PLUESS, Leon, one nephew JOHN L. HENRY, Hollywood, California and two grand nephews, JOHN ALLEN and PATRICK ROY HENRY, Hollywood, California and other relatives and friends..

Services were held from the Stewart Funeral home Friday, February 4 at 2 p. m. Clergymen, Rev. A. V. HART and J. L. MCCURDY, Mrs. LUCILLE HONEYWELL, soloist, accompanist. Mrs. C. N. MAUGHAN. Bearers: L. L. HULLINGER, HARRY NELSON, PAUL JONES, CHARLES CLEMENSON, DEWEY WHITE, and A. G. STUTEVILLE. Final resting place, Leon cemetery.
