Obituary ~ Ronald Edwin "Ron" Brown
January 27, 1944 ~ October 06, 2014Ronald Edwin Brown, 70, passed away October 6, 2014 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born January 27, 1944 in Osceola, IA to Lloyd and Vera (Harger) Brown. After high school [Grand Valley Community School, Class of 1962] Ron enlisted in the USAF where he spent the next 22 years serving his country. He married the love of his life, Judith Tafoya in 1966 and to their union was born five children.
During his time in the Air Force, he and his family traveled the globe having spent time in Vietnam, Philippians (sic) and Turkey as well as several posts here at home before retiring to Colorado Springs. After retiring from the Air Force he settled in Colorado Springs, working for DECA at Fort Carson before moving to Canon City where he worked at the Canon City Daily Record.
Ron loved to fish and above all, loved spending time with his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Judith, children; Tina (Dan) Martin, James (Paola) Brown, Jodi Brown, Sue Canfield and Marc (Lisa) Brown; siblings, Ed, Carol and Mary Jane as well as 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents and brother, Richard.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 10:00 A.M., at the Harwood Funeral Home, 225 E. Main Street in Florence. Inurnment will follow at the American Legion Columbarium at Union Highland Cemetery in Florence, CO.
