August 02, 1977 ~ September 13, 2014

Gayle Edward Jones, age 37, the son of Gayle Edgar and Mary Jane (Born) Jones, was born August 2, 1977, at Mount Ayr, Iowa. He died at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa on Saturday, September 13, 2014.

Gayle attended schools in Texas and in Red Oak and Mount Ayr, Iowa. He had many odd jobs over the years, such as working at Lakeside Casino and Subway in Osceola, Iowa. The job that was his love and his passion was driving truck. He worked for Truro Grain and Swackhammer, Inc., both in Truro, Iowa. Recently, Gayle was living in Derby, Iowa.

Gayle was married for a few years to Christine Morris and enjoyed being stepdad to her son, Quinton. Later he had a long-term relationship with Rachel Holford and her son, Kevin. In his free time, Gayle loved to fish and draw. He was a good artist.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents; parents; and two brothers, J.R. Rainer and infant Clifford Jones. Survivors include his siblings, Ed Born and wife Katy of Humeston, Iowa, Mary Rice of Leon, Iowa, Lamar Watson and wife Lisa of Maryville, Missouri, Maggie Smith of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Louise Stepford, and Patty Duncan and husband Duane of Stockton, California; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at the Slade - O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2014 with Rev. Terry D. Roberts officiating. Burial will be in the Westerville Cemetery at a later date.
