Obituary ~ Philip Ervin Beers
June 19, 1892 ~ October 16, 1970

PHILIP ERVIN BEERS, son of EDWARD and MARY V. BEERS, was born in Decatur County, Iowa, June 19, 1892, and died October 16, 1970 at the Wayne County Hospital at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 27 days.

He was born and reared near Grand River in Decatur County until he moved with his family to a farm near Allerton, Iowa in 1941.

He was united in marriage to INA GREENHALGH February 12, 1919. To this union were born two daughters.

At an early age he joined the Christian Union Church and later the Brethren Church of Leon, Iowa.

Survivors are his wife INA; and two daughters, RUBY (Mrs. JOHN BARNETT) of Osceola, Iowa; and ALDA (Mrs. RAYMOND BARNETT) of Corydon; Also surviving are six grandchildren, Airman Sgt. DEAN BARNETT and his wife JEN, Blytheville, Ark; DALE BARNETT, Ames; TWYLA EVANS and husband DWAINE, Derby; LINDA CAMPBELL and husband of ED Humeston; CLEVA CARLSON and husband Captain JOHN, of Falls Church, Va.; and RICKE BARNETT, Corydon; three great grandchildren, PAT and KIM EVANS and KEVIN CAMPELL; four sisters, ELLA WARNER and EDITH BALL, Leon; and HELEN HOPKINS and NELLIE BINNING, Grand River; one brother, FRED of Leon; eight brothers-in-law; eight sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, FRANK and BILL, and one sister, ETHEL.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 19, 1970, from the Stewart Funeral Home at Leon, Iowa with burial in the Leon Cemetery.
