Obituary ~ James Isaac Norman
October 02, 1920 ~ July 16, 1934Leon Reporter
Leon, Decatur County, Iowa
July, 1934James Isaac Norman the son of Winfield and Verna (Butcher) Norman was born October 2, and departed this life July 16, 1934, near his home southwest of Decatur at the age of 13 years, 9 months, and 14 days. His school days were spent at the Rauch school with the exception of the year he attended the school at Terre Haute. He was a very industrious and bright student and was loved by all his schoolmates and teachers.
Although James was only 13, he was a great help to his parents and always willing to aid them in the various tasks in the home. He was a victim of an unfortunate accident which occurred while working in his father's timber, when he was struck down by a falling tree, it knocked him unconcious. God called him into the Great Beyond a half hour later. We do not understand God's plan but we know he doeth all things well, so we shall live that we may look forward to the day when we will understand.
James had a loving disposition which made him many friends and was sincerely loved by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his loving father and mother, three brothers, Cleo, Jesse, and Mickey: four sisters, Valetta, Leona, Annette, and Naomi: and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. I. C. Norman. He also leaves to mourn his departure a host of other relatives and friends.
A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled:
A place is vacant in the home,
Which can never be filled.Funeral services were held at Terre Haute, conducted by Geo. R. Lamb, and a very large crowd of neighbors and friends gathered to pay their last respects to the one who be so sadly missed. Interment was made in the Terre Haute Cemetery.
