Sarah Jessie Wilson was born August 16, 1885 near Osceola, Iowa and departed this life in the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 78 years, two months and 23 days. She was the second daughter of Allen and Jennie Wilson and lived in Decatur and Clarke Counties all of her life except for two years which was spent in Nebraska. The last 20 years have been spent in Van Wert, Iowa. She was married to Benjamin F. Redman and to this union six children were born: Madge Kernen of Van Wert; Clifton Redman of Van Wert; Raymond Redman of Van Wert; Horace Redman of Van Wert; Doris Sink of Glendale, California; and Marie Smith of Salinas, California. She leaves six children, three daughters-in-law; two sons-in-law; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clarence Wilson of Brush, Colorado; two sisters, Wilma Spence of Pasedena, California and Leora Alexander of Denver, Colorado; nieces and nephews, one brother-in-law, Bert Redman of Leon; two sisters-in-law, Carrie Redman of Van Wert and Ruth Wilson of Brush, Colorado. Several cousins, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters. She has been a member of the Van Wert Methodist Church since she was 13 years of age. The funeral services were conducted from the Van Wert Methodist church Sunday, November 10, 1963 at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Mildred Baker officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Albert Eilts. Bearers were Richard Kernen, Darrell Redman, Jerry Redman, Danny Redman, Davey Redman, Norman Redman and Bob Sink. Interment was in the Van Wert Cemetary. Slade Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
