NANCY E. MILLER-DRAKE, wife of MR. E.A.
DRAKE, died in Leon, Ia., March
22, l895, aged 7l years, 8 months and 29
days. MRS. DRAKE's native
place was Marshall County, Tennessee. She
was united in marriage to MR.
DRAKE Feb. l6, l847, Rev. J. Hall a
Presbyterian clergyman of influence
in the community officiating. They are the
parents of eight children,
seven of whom are living.

In l848 MR. and MRS. DRAKE emigrated to
Appanoose County, Iowa. We infer
a migratory spirit had seized the people of
that district in Tennessee
at that date, for Unionville had quite a
colony of Tennesseans. MR.
DRAKE lived 25 or more years in that
vicinity; and there the children
grew up around the parental table. MRS.
DRAKE and the household were
held in highest estimation as the kindness
and attention on the funeral
occasion testified. The family lived later
in Moulton and came to Leon
six years ago.

MRS. DRAKE had professed Christ as her Savior
at l7 and united with the
Presbyterian Church. She was familiar with
the Divine Word, a
thoughtful Christian, but not demonstrative.
Since in Leon, she was an
invalid but life was as tenacious as the
disease was persevering. At
last, however, the weary wheels of life
ceased to move. She committed
her spirit calmly, trustfully into her
Savior's hands. It was her wish
that her body be laid to rest in the
Unionville Cemetery, and thither
they were borne on last Saturday, accompanied
by the family and Rev.
G.D. Gurley. The latter conducted the
funeral service in the
Presbyterian Church at Unionville on Sabbath,
preaching on 2 Cor. 5:l. A
very large audience were present not only
from Unionville, but also from
Moulton. Her journey is ended, her life work
done. She rests in the
Lord and is gathered to his people.
