MARY ANN SPRINGER died May 6th, l895, at the
residence of her son, J.G.
SPRINGER, aged 84 years, l month and 4 days.
Funeral services at the
home conducted by Rev. G.D. Gurley. MRS.
SPRINGER was the daugher of
WM. and MARGARET MCMECHAN. She was of
Scotch-Irish ancestry, that
sturdy talented stock which has furnished so
many great men to the
union. The MCMECHANs can trace their history
back to the settlement in
Ireland by emigrants from Scotland, MRS.
SPRINGER was born in Ireland
l8ll, emigrated with her parents to the
United States in l8l6. She was
married to LEWIS MITCHELL in Camden, Ohio.
He lived but five months
after their marriage.

She then lived two years with her parents,
until her father's death.
Nov., l847 she was married to REV. B.O.
SPRINGER, a Presbyterian
Minister who had moved from Vermont to Ohio.
REV. SPRINGER had a family
of seven children. These she cared for with
all motherly devotion and
was rewarded with the highest tribute of
their heart's deepest
affection. REV. SPRINGER died in l88l,
having resided for a number of
years on the farm where her son J.G. SPRINGER
now resides. After his
death she spent her time between her son on
the old homestead and her
daughter, MRS. S.A. GATES, until the latter's
death. The last years of
her life were years of weariness and waiting.
She gladly welcomed the
voice that called her home.

MRS. SPRINGER was by universal testimony a
most saintly woman, that best
and most perfect gift of Christian virtue and
love was hers in high
degree. Her life was a benediction to all
around her. Her memory is
blessed and lingers as incense poured forth
in the mind of kindred and
acquaintants. Depart in peace, blessed
saint, rest from thy labors and
thy works shall follow thee.
