ALVA OMER HARRISON, Son of H.A. and GEORGIA
HARRISON, was born in
Cainsville, Mo., Nov. llth, l873. Died at
the residence of his parents
in Leon, Iowa, Jan. 3rd, l895, of quick
consumption, aged 2l years, l
mo. and 22 days. The deceased moved with his
parents to Davis City, Ia.
in the fall of l88l, where he spent his
boyhood days. About 3 years
ago, he united with the Christian Church
under the preaching of Eld.
Porter and has led ever since an exemplary
life.

During his last sickness he frequently
expressed himself as being ready
and willing to go and join loved ones on the
other shore. On the
morning of the day of his death, he said to
his mother and friends,
"This is the day of rejoicing in which to
praise the Lord." After
counseling his relatives and friends to live
pure and holy lives, he
died triumphing in the living faith. The
funeral obsequies were held at
Davis City, attended by a large concourse of
friends. The last sad
rites of speaking a few words to comfort the
mourning ones was performed
by Elder M.S. Gillidett, after which his body
was laid away in the
cemetery at Davis City, there to await the
great resurrection morn when
the dead in Christ shall rise first and meet
the Lord in the air. And
we with the family of the deceased and
friends say good-bye, dear boy,
we would not call thee back to suffer again
the pangs of death. But we
say peace to his ashes, sleep the sleep of
those who fall asleep in
Jesus; and when the toils and hardships of
this life are over, may it be
our happy lot to meet thee in that Heavenly
land where parting will be
no more.
