DEATH NOTICE:

KARNS, Lyle Richard 89, formerly of Lineville, Iowa, died on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the F.W. Huston Senior Living Center in Winchester, Kansas surrounded by his family. Lyle was cremated. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Lineville, Iowa, with Pastor Davis Shriver officiating. A private family inurnment will be held in the Clio Cemetery, Clio, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the COPD Foundation, 2937 SW 27th Ave, Suite 302, Miami, FL 33133.

LYLE RICHARD KARNS ... Lyle Richard Karns, son of Glenn Russell and Elizabeth Liddy [Gibbs] Karns, was born in Woodland, Iowa on January 18, 1923, and passed away at the F.W. Huston Senior Living Center in Winchester, Kansas, on April 28, 2012, surrounded by his family, at the age of 89 years.

Lyle was raised in the Clio, Iowa community, where he was a graduate of Clio High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy and received an honorable discharge. He met Eva Jean Adcock in 1944, and they were united in marriage on January 24, 1944, in Princeton, Missouri. They moved to California in 1948 where he worked as a salesman for GMC trucks. He ventured out on his own by opening a Mobile Oil Service Station in Riverside, California, and later went into the restaurant business which he retired from in 1985. After retirement, he moved to Lineville, Iowa, and enjoyed spending most of his later years helping raise his two grandchildren. Due to failing health, he moved to McLouth, Kansas to live with his granddaughter and her family. He spent these last few months surrounded by his family and enjoying the company of his great-grandchildren.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eva Jean Karns, on December 6, 1990; and by his brother Eugene Karns. He is survived by his sister, Marcilee Shriver (and brother-in-law, Harold) of Lineville, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Vivian Karns, of Nixa, Missouri; his daughter, Lyla Lara, of Lineville; one granddaughter, Angela Courter (and her husband, Frank) of McLouth, Kansas; one grandson, Jeremy Karns (and his wife, Kassidie) of Lawrence, Kansas; three great-grandchildren, Remington, Hunter, and Ruger Courter; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
