DEATH NOTICE:

(The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa May 2, 2012)

POUSH, Roe, 88, of Leon, Iowa died on Saturday April 28, 2012, at VA Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon with the family greeting friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa. Interment will beheld in the Davis City Cemetery, Davis City, at a later date.

Survivors include 4 children: Ed Poush, Grinnell, IA, Kathy Gardner, Elk River, MN, Rob Poush, Fairmont MN, and Shelly Flora, Winterset, IA and grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to a Veteran Charity of your choice.

CHARLES ROE POUSH ... Charles Roe Poush, age 88, was born August 31, 1923 near Leon, Iowa, to Charles Edward and Jennie Mary [Moore] Poush. He passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the VA Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Roe was a lifelong resident of Decatur County, graduating from Leon High School in 1941. He served in the United States Army from 1943-1946. He was united in marriage to Charity Genevieve Lillie on November 15, 1947. He and Genevieve were blessed with four children, Edward "Ed", Kathy, Robert "Rob", and Mary Michelle "Shelly".

In addition to operating the family farm, Roe served as the Decatur County Clerk of Court from 1957-1969, after which he became a Realtor and later built and repaired grain bins until his retirement.

Roe was preceded in death by his parents; wife Genevieve on December 13, 2007; sisters, Lucille and Ruth Poush in childhood, Paulyne Meadows, and Margaret Jones; brother Richard Poush; and infant granddaughter Sarah Jayne Poush.

Roe is survived and mourned by his children, Ed and Sharon Poush of Grinnell, Iowa; Kathy and Dave Carter of Elk River, Minnesota; Rob and Joy Poush of Fairmont, Minnesota, and Shelly Flora of Winterset, IA; as well as grandchildren, Matthew (Wendy), Michael (Misty), Jenny and Seth Poush; Joe and Jason Carter; Jennie (Ben) Karnish, Abbie, and Christopher Poush; Scott and Seth Poush, Amber and Greg Short; six great grandchildren, seven nieces and nephews, and many friends, including his Guardian Angels, Renee Cassity and Debbie Klever.

Memorial will be donated to charities which serve veterans.
