DEATH NOTICE:

(The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa March 14, 2012)

LA FOLLETTE, Clyde V., 90, of La Porte, Indiana and formerly of Michigan City, Indiana, died on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services were held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, in La Porte, with Rev. Wayne Rosson officiating. Full military honors were conducted by the La Porte Honor Guard. Cremation took place following services. A private burial will take place at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Michigan City at a later date.

CLYDE V. LA FOLLETTE ... Clyde V. La Follette, 90, of La Porte, Indiana and formerly of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away peacefully at 12:50 p.m., Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory is caring of the arrangements.

He was born April 18, 1921 in Seline, Missouri to Welby Earl and Roselma "Elmie" [Cramer] La Follette.

Mr. La Follette worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for 27 years at Woodruff * Sons in Michigan City and Brandenton, Florida until his retirement in 1985.

Clyde served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of Harvest Time Church of God and the Crosley Club. Clyde enjoyed steam shows, car racing, antique autos and loved to attend auctions.

On June 19, 1946, he married Helen I. Stephens. She preceded him in death on September 1, 2007.

Survivors include one daughter, Sherry (Louis) La Follette Cantrell of La Porte, one son, Richard (Jane) La Follette of Valparaiso, Indiana; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronald La Follette of Osceola, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Ginny La Follette of Michigan City; special care giver and one granddaughter, Amanda Gammill of Tulsa Oklahoma; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Gregory Clyde and Roger M. La Follette; two brothers, Clifford and Donald La Follette; one grandson, Michael LaFollette.
