Jesse O. Jackson Passed Tuesday

Was an Invalid for Number of Years - Suffered Much During Last Illness

Jesse Owen Jackson passed away at his home in east Lamoni February 20, 1939 following an illness of seven years. While friends knew of his serious condition they did not cease to hope for a favorable outcome, but these hopes were denied fulfillment and he was called away while at a useful age of 59 years and 25 days.

The announcement of his passing was received with sorrow by his friends. All unite in extending sympathy to the members of the family.

Jesse Owen Jackson was born at Manhattan, Kan., in a covered wagon on January 28, 1880, and was the third child of a family of 12 children. He was the son of Thomas J. and Armilda Jackson. Shortly after his birth his family moved to Clark County, Iowa, where Mr. Jackson was raised to Manhood. In the year of 1900 he was united in marriage to Halcyon Willey at Osceola, Iowa, on July 6. To this union six children were born: Anna E, who died in infancy; Homer L., of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Doris Rhodes, of Leon, Iowa; Elmer W. of Fairfield, Ill.; Mrs. Anita Lewis, of St. Paul, Minn.; and Lyle W., student at Iowa State College.

Mr. Jackson was in every way a good citizen. He was faithful and true to his friends and possessed those traits which enabled him to win and hold the friendship of all those with whom he was associated. He was ever ready and willing to offer a hand in case of sickness and trouble of his neighbors and friends. He will be missed from the home and his friends and the community at large. He is survived by his widow, 5 children, 5 grandchildren, three brothers, Frank and Raymond, of California; and Grover, of Hugo, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. Maud Stickler of Reedsburg, Wis.; and Mrs. Ruby Harris, of Traer, Iowa.

Cronicle, Thurs., February 23, 1939
