Frank Ernest Chastain was born August 17, 1878, in Eden Township, Decatur County, Iowa, the son of John M. and Sarah Albaugh Chastain. He passed away Sunday, November 25, 1962 at the Decatur County hospital, being the age of 84 years, 3 months and 8 days.

He was united in marriage August 20, 1902, to Maude Bruner and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. To this union four children were born: Paul J., El Monte, Calif.; Harold E., Leon, Katherine (Mrs. Clell Tarrence), Dodgeville, Wisconsin; and F. Wendell, Corydon, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Minnie Chastain.

He was a member of the Leon Christian Church, having been baptized at the age of 10.

He had been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Decatur County hospital, having served as secretary during the building and early operation of the institution. He was a charter member of the Decatur County Farm Bureau and a charter member of the Fair Board, serving as director at the time of his death.

Surviving him are his widow, four children, three daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, nine grandchildren, one great grandson and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 27, 1962 at 2:00 p.m. at the Stewart Funeral Home, Leon, conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Davis. Interment was made in the Leon cemetery.
