DEATH NOTICE:

HAGEN, Varga K., 95, formerly of Davis City, Iowa, died on Saturday, January 14, 2012 in Seattle Washington.

Remembrances may be sent to the restoration project of the 1878 First Union Brick Church, Attn: Judy Eakes, 403 West Pine, Davis City, Iowa 50065.

VARGA K. HAGEN ... Varga K. Hagen "Boots", son of Roscoe and Eula Hagen, was born February 16, 1916 in Davis City, Iowa and passed January 14, 2012 in Seattle, Washington.

Varg grew up in Davis City and graduated from Davis City High with the class of 1935. He had many fond memories of his youth of swimming, fishing and ice skating on the Grand River with his brothers (Russell and Don).

Varg married Hilda Hullinger June 8, 1941 in Lexington, Missouri. They celebrated 70 beautiful years last June. In September of 1941 they moved to the west coast. Varg attended aeronautic school then went to work for Boeing (Seattle). He worked there for thirty-nine years.

Varg was a "fifty year & more" member of the Masonic Lodge # 189 in Pleasanton, Iowa. He enjoyed hunting with friends for elk in Eastern Washington and especially the trips to Alberta, Canada for moose.

When Varg retired they moved to their acreage in Duvall, WA. He enjoyed remodeling the home and caring for the beautiful yard plus property. In 1985 they started spending every winter in Yuma, AZ.

Varga and Hilda had two daughters Janice Jo and Debra, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents Roscoe and Eula Hagen, brother Russell (Winifred), brother Donald, sister Maudwae Tanner and daughter Debra Sullivan-Harrison.

Surviving are his wife Hilda Hagen, daughter Janice Jo Loew (Dick), grandson Tyler Sullivan, grandson Benjamin Lowe (Jeana), granddaughter Laura Chait (Geoff), great grandsons Whistler Lowe and Colton Chait, Sisters in-law: Merle German Weldon, IA and Delores Dingman Tualetin, OR. Brother in-law Gerald Hullinger (Margaret) Yakima, WA. Many nieces and nephews in Iowa, Oregon and Washington.
