BINNING, Gordon, 84, of Lamoni, Iowa, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa with Pastor Woodie Ladnier officiating. Interment was in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.

GORD0N BINNING ... Gordon Frank Binning, age 84 of Lamoni, Iowa, was born April 30, 1927 to Ralph and Lizzie [Watson] binning at home north of Decatur, Iowa. He died January 10, 2012 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Gordon attended school in Decatur County at Pleasant Hill School through 8th grade. He then went to Leon High School, where he graduated in 1946. Gordon was active in FFA.

Gordon was married July 7, 1949 to Darlene Vanderflute. To this union two sons, James and Allen, were born.

Gordon was a farmer during this marriage. It was dissolved in 1964.

On October 1, 1966 Gordon married Barbara Kelly. With this marriage Gordon took two of Barbara's children, Bob Kelly who was 12 and Jolene Kelly 7. He loved and cared for them as his own. Gordon was a loving husband and Dad.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws Ralph Stanford and Beulah Hatfield; step-grandson Lawrence Denver Kelly; brothers-in-law: Bill Stanford, Kenneth Davenport, and Walker Davis; sisters-in-law: Margaret Stanford, Nadene Hall, and Margaret Davis; and his wife Barbara Binning on July 25, 2010.

Those who survive are sons James Binning and wife Sharon of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Allen Binning of Osceola, Iowa; step-children: Ron Kelly and wife Flora of Lamoni, Bob Kelly and wife Janet of Lamoni, and Jolene Harden and husband Dave of Surprise, Arizona; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren and 17 step-great grandchildren; sister Leona Lundy and husband Russell of Minnesota; brothers Eldon Binning and wife Doris of Leon, Iowa and Donald Binning and wife Joan of Honolulu, Hawaii; brother-in-law Ardie Hall of Leon; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
