MARINA Q. SMITH ... Born in Kincheloe AFB, MI on Aug. 7, 1966 ... Died Sep. 21, 2007 and resided in San Antonio, TX. - Marina Q. Smith joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 21, 2007. Marina was born to James and Jo Anne Quiocho [nee Bemis] on August 7, 1966 at Kincheloe AFB, Michigan.

The family eventually settled in El Pason, Texas, where Marina graduated from Eastwood High School. She attended El Paso Community College, pursuing a degree in Interior Design, and eventually changed her major to Engineering at the University of Texas El Paso. She transferred to Texas A&M university, where she met her devoted husband Michael Smith. She graduated for A&M with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, one of few women to complete the program.

Michael and Marina were married on December 7th, 1991. They both joined the Engineering teams at Southwest Research Institute, where she worked until venturing out on her own as a consultant for PRCI. Marina was an outstanding engineer, one of the best in her field. Her work included analysis and improvement of the Alaskan Pipeline, and many other oil and gas infrastructure projects. Many of her assignments required extensive travel and hands-on assessment. Most recently Marina was employed by CC Technologies in Ohio.

On August 27, 1999, their long-awaited and cherished daughter, Jenna Margaret was born. the little family was now complete, enjoying the lovely home that Michael and Marina had created together. Marina continued her education while working full-time and raising their daughter, receiving her Masters Degree in Civil Engineering form the University of Texas in 2002.

Marina was a gifted pianist, and unmatched intellect, a brilliant engineer, a gourmet cook, and a stylishly beautiful woman. But she will be mostly remembered for her kind heart. The world has lost a very special person, and her family friends and colleagues will miss her terribly.

Mourners include her husband, Michael J. Smith; daughter, Jenna Margaret Smith; mother, Jo Anne Quiocho; father, James Quiocho and wife, Carrie; brother, Les Quiocho and wife Carmen; half-brothers, Reggie, Michael and Steven Quiocho; and half sister, Teri Maxwell; father-in-law, John E. Smith; mother-in-law, Maria S. Smith; brothers-in-law, John T. Smith and wife Kristy, Jeff Smith and wife Alicia; sisters-in-law, Theresa Grant and Eileen Day; nieces, Sarah and Amber; nephews, Brandon, Augustine, Justin, Austin, Sean, Chad and Jack.

Marina had the soul of an artist, a brilliant mind, the beauty of an angel, and thirst for perfection, and a heart for Jesus. She will be missed.
