Lynden C. Thompson - September 18, 1932 - September 22, 2009 ... Lynden C. Thompson, 77, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at this home in Grant City, Missouri following a three-year battle with cancer.

Lynden was born September 18, 1932 in Lamoni, Iowa, the son of Alma [Lynch] and John A. Thompson.

Lynden made his profession of faith, was baptized and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madera, California.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955 and then followed a varied career path. His favorite occupation was always farming and raising and trading cattle. He enjoyed going to auctions, sale barns and never met a casino he didn't like.

He married Joyce Thompson on November 11, 1955. Together they raised three children, Karen (Jeff) Andrews, Kent Thompson and Kathryn (Steve) McGrew, all of Grant City, Missouri.

Lynden is survived by his wife; three children; five grandchildren, Kendall Kobbe, Katelyn Frisch, Kyle Kobbe, Claire Andrews and Tess Andrews. He always had lots of advice for his grand kids and an extra $20 anytime they needed it.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ethel Cheswick; four brothers, John D., David, Paul and Dick; one brother, Howard [Evelyn] Thompson of Davis City, Iowa; three sisters, Mildred Walling of Lamoni, Iowa, Alice Miller of Leon, Iowa and Margaret Locke of Grant City, Misouri; many nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.

Services were held Friday, September 25, 2009, at Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City. Interment was at the Kirk Cemetery in Allendale, Missouri.
