HALSTEAD, Carol Lea (Corky), 83, of Lincoln, Nebraska, died on Sunday, December 11, 2011. Memorial services are as of Corky's wishes, cremation, private burial and celebration at a future date to be determined.

CAROL LEA (CORKY) HALSTEAD ... Carol Lea Halstead (Corky), 83, of Lincoln, Nebraska, died on Sunday December 11, 2011.

Carol was the first child of Louie and Mildred Jenkins, born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on November 26, 1928, then spending the rest of her childhood in Leon, Iowa with parents, sister and brother.

She graduated fro Leon High School in 1947 with longtime schoolmate Maury N. Halstead. They married in 1949 at the Leon Methodist Church and celebrated 63 years of marriage.

"Corky" was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother making that her life's priority.

Maury and Corky raised 4 sons from this union: Monty, wife Tish from Omaha, NE; Scott, wife Angie, from Omaha, NE; Danny, wife Shelly from Lincoln, NE; and Col. Tony Halstead, from San Antonio, TX; 6 grandchildren: Shawn, Laura, Chase, Jordan, Carli and Kaylea; 7 great-grandchildren: Hailey, Brooke, Christopher, Elijah, Linkoln, Zoey Belle and Harlow Eve.

Other relatives: Uncle Earl Jenkins, wife Maurine from Ardmore, OK; sister-in-law Jackie Jenkins from Omaha, NE; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Deceased: Parents, Louie and Mildred Jenkins; sister, Barbara Lou Vaughn; brother Lloyd Jenkins; parents-in-law Burbank and Florence Halstead; brother-in-laws, Whitney Halstead and Billie Vaughn.
