DEATH NOTICE:

(The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa December 21, 2011)

ERICKSON, Earl Arthur, 87, formerly of Adel, Iowa, died on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Strawberry Point, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gordon Harmon officiating. Interment was held at Clarinda Cemetery with military honors provided by Clarinda American Legion Sergy Post # 98. Arrangements were through Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel of Clarinda, Iowa.

Memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans.

Obituary -

EARL A. ERICKSON ... Earl Arthur Erickson was born July 25, 1924 in Marne, Iowa to Carl Arthur and Ethel Gertrude [Corey] Erickson. He graduated Van Wert High School. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, a German Prisoner of War and was awarded two Bronze Star Medals. He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.

Earl was married to Virginia strain and had two step-children, Duane and Judy. In 1962 he married Betty Barragar Glines who had 5 children and he adopted the youngest one, James.

Earl passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Strawberry Point, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, parents, brothers Edwin and Fred, sister Margaret Herbert Nelson, and stepson Ron Glines.

Earl is survived by son James Erickson and wife Susan of Atlantic, IA, step son Gary Glines and wife Sharon of Shenandoah, IA; daughter-in-law Janice Glines of Windsor, CO; step daughter Dianna Davison and husband Mike Hillier of Manchester, IA, step daughter Joyce Akers of Phoenix, AZ, sisters Betty Szyperski of Meniffe, CA, Jennie Swanson of Columbia Heights, MN, Beverly Walker and husband Jim of Bellevue, WA and Marie Harmon and husband Gordon of Springfield, MO, 2 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 12 step grandchildren and 31 step great grandchildren; and a host of nieces & nephews.
