Son of John B.Decker and Rachel Millage Decker.
John was born in Henry County, Ill. on December 5 1864. And departed this life at his home near Garden Grove, Iowa Oct.20,1944 at the age of 78yr.10mo.15days.

On November 8, 1885 he was united in marriage to Iva Delia Hobbs who passed away August 13,1936. To this union were born 10 children: Gertie who passed away at an early age, Bertha Kennedy of Des Moines; Ray Decker of Des Moines, Ia; Foster Decker of Garden Grove, Ia; Walter Decker of Lincoln, Nebraska; Edna Montgomery of New Virginia, Ia; Delia Barlean of Leon, Ia.;Ben Decker who is stationed in Washington State; Forest Decker who is somewhere in England (who was unable to attend the services) and Minnie Decker at home.

He also leaves 31 grandchildren, 6 greatgrandchildren, and one sister, Mrs.Walter Taylor of Sheridan, Missouri.

In his early life he was baptized into the Christian Church. He has always been an honest, upright citzen, a very kind and loving father. And was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors. Although he had been in poor health for a number of years, he never complained. He will be sadly missed by all of his loved ones.
