HILL, Maurice Neal, 77, of Leon, Iowa, died at his home in Leon surrounded by his devoted wife and loving family on Monday, February 6, 2006. Funeral services were held at the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon February 10 with Pastor Max Carmichael and Pastor Dale Short officiating. Burial was in the Davis City Cemetery, Davis City, Iowa.

A memorial fund has been established by the family.

MAURICE NEAL HILL ... Maurice Neal Hill, age 77, the son of Elmer Warren and Helen Belle [Hartley] Hill, was born January 1, 1929 in Decatur County, Iowa. He died at his home in Leon, Iowa surrounded by his devoted wife and loving family on Monday, February 6, 2006.

On June 4, 1946 Maurice married Darlene Mae Young at Atchison, Kansas. Three children were born to this union, Ron, Gloria and Darla.

Maurice lived most all of his life in Decatur County, doing what he loved - farming. Over the years he also drove a livestock truck for the Snethen Brothers and a grain truck for the Boswell Elevator. Maurice suffered many heart ailments, heart attacks,and surgeries over the past 28 years and even worked while his health was failing.

He was saved and baptized and became a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He treasured life and relied on his faith in God to help him through his final days, being confined to his home in the last six months. Throughout their married life, Maurice and Darlene enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and family time.

Preceding him in death were his parents; parents-in-law Art and Goldie Young; brothers Max and Dean Hill; sister-in-law Mary Belle Hill; and brother in law Don Young.

Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Darlene Hill of Leon; son Ron Hill and wife Kay of Decatur; daughters: Gloria Wyatt and husband John III of St. Charles, Iowa and Darla Lorenz and husband Paul Jr. of Creston; eight grandchildren: Nancy and Steve Hill, Sandra Hill, Bill and Okalena Hill, Janet Hill and Troy Maki; Gina and Billy Lewis and Lacey Wyatt; and Casey Lincoln and Paul Lorenz III; great grandchildren: Blaine, Blair, Clayton, Malorie, Monica, Tate, and Reece Hill; Kyle and Kaley Byrd; and Tayler Lewis; brother Ralph Hill of Osceola sisters: Sara Van Nostrand and husband Jim of Delran, New Jersey and Donna Roskens and husband Russ of Las Vegas, Nevada; sisters-in-law Elaine Hill of Leon and Ruth Hill of Ellinwood, Kansas; brother-in-law Darrell Young and wife Dolly of Decatur and sister-in-law Doris Sisson and husband Jim of Waukesha, Wisconsin; nieces and nephews; and other relatives; his church family; and many friends.
