“...E. S. Grimes, one of out oldest citizens, died Monday morning about four o’clock with a general decline of health and heart trouble. He has been quite poorly all winter but was thought not to be serious. Mr. Grimes has always been in business here until about a year ago when he with his family moved to the country where they lived until a few weeks ago they moved back to town. His son, Grissom, who resides here, was at his bedside at the time of his death; their other children were here to attend the funeral, Mark and children, from Leon; John and wife, from Nebraska; Oscar and wife. from Gillman City, [Missouri]; Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Mitchell, from Des Moines; Mrs. Sam Lawhead, from Amity, [Missouri], and Mr. and Mrs. Wm Westfall , of Weldon. The family have the sympathy of the entire community. The funeral services were held at the M. E. church conducted by Rev. Coffin, of the Leon Christian church, and the body laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.”
