DEATH NOTICE:

ALLPRESS, Doris, 84, of Leon, Iowa, died on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon. Burial will follow at the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.

DORIS LUNEAL ALLPRESS ... Doris Luneal Allpress, age 84 of Leon, Iowa, the daughter of Faye and Ethel [Spidle] Clark, was born April 18, 1927 in Decatur County, Iowa. She died at the Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday, September 10, 2011.

Doris graduated from high school in Leon, Iowa in 1944. She then moved to Washington State for a short time. On July 14, 1945 she married Oliver Wayne Allpress in Osceola, Iowa.

They were blessed with three children, Jim, John, and Jill. The family lived in Leon until 1962 when they moved to Lineville, Iowa. For a time Doris worked at the telephone office and Hopkin's Drug Store, but mostly she was a homemaker for her family and an excellent cook. She was a Cubs baseball fan.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Wayne on December 21, 2003; daughter Jill Parkhurst on January 12, 2011; and her siblings, Dean, Lyle, and Lynn Clark, Ruby Shock, and Darlene Carrico-Baker.

Survivors include her sons, Jim Allpress of Altoona, Iowa and John Allpress and wife Karen of Norway, Iowa; son-in-law Doyle Parkhurst of Decatur, Iowa; grandchildren, Darci & Max Rankin of Altoona, Tina & Ryan Mentzer of Johnston, Iowa, Jaime Allpress of Altoona, Jay & Varina Allpress and Holly Loesche, all of Walford, Iowa; great grandchildren, Chelsi, Amber, and Mason Rankin, Paige and Grayson Mentzer, Brian Hoaglund, Alex and Hannah Allpress, and Chiara Loesche; brother-in-law Dean Carrison of Osceola; sister-in-law Pat Clark of Dallas, Texas; and other relatives and friends.
