KARSJENS, Randy, 61, of Weldon, Iowa, died on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia, Iowa. A memorial service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. August 29, 2011 at Ochiltree Funeral Service and Aftercare in Winterset, Iowa. Burial was in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter with military honors by the United States Marine Corps and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8142 and American Legion Post 184 of Winterset.

RANDY KARSJENS ... Randy Karsjens, 61, of Weldon, Iowa died Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia.

A memorial service was held 10:00 a.m., Monday, august 29th at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Burial was in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter with military honors by the United States Marin Corps and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8142 and American Legion Post 184 of Winterset. Randall Lee Karsjens was born November 14, 1949 in Hampton, Iowa; the son of Rient and Gertrude [Janssen] Karsjens. He graduated from Northeast Hamilton High School in 1967 and later served his country in the United States Marin Corps as a rifleman during the Vietnam War. His marriage to Janice Klein took place of November 29, 1969 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williams, Iowa and to this union two sons, Scott and Tim, were born.

He was the owner and manager of East Green Collision in Winterset since 1995. He also managed several other collision centers, including Covington and Senfco both of Des Moines.

Randy loved horses and was a member of the Southern Iowa Saddle Club. He also loved restoring old tractors and working on his acreage.

Randy is survived by his two sons, Scott (Tiffany) Karsjens of Albia and Tim (Tracie) Karsjens of Rogers, MN; a brother, Wayne Karsjens of Hampton; three grandchildren, Cody, Dalton and Evan Karsjens. He is also survived by half siblings, Dale, Marvin and Shirley.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
