WARREN JONES ... Warren Donald Jones, first born child of David and Lillian Elizabeth Houck Jones was born May 7, 1925 in Van Wert, Iowa. He died July 30, 2011 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines at eighty-six years of age.

Warren received his early education in Van Wert, graduating from Van Wret High School in 1942. He entered the United States Army in 1944 during World War II and saw combat on Okinawa, Japan.

Upon returning home, Warren attended Simpson College in Indianola. He then ran a trucking business as his father had done. He later went to work for the Iowa Department of Transportation where he remained until his retirement.

In his youth, Warren was an avid baseball player and was noted for his pitching, especially his special curve ball. In later years, he took up golfing and enjoyed playing with his buddies at the Osceola Country Club where he was known as "Chi Chi." His greatest passion however, was music and dancing. He had an extensive collection of records and for many years attended dances weekly at Lake Robbins Ballroom. His sister, Wilda Kay and her husband accompanied him to one of his latest dances. At eighty-five, he could still hold his own on the dance floor.

Those relatives preceding Warren in death were his parents; son, Steven; brothers, David Elsworth and Walter R. Jones; his nephew, Wendell Jones, Jr. and brother in law, Glen Van Dyke.
