PETTY, Ruth Leone, 94, of the Decatur County area, died on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Home in Lineville, Iowa, with Pastor Max Carmichael officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville.

RUTH LEONE PETTY ... Ruth Leone Petty, daughter of Henry Milton and Samantha Jane [Bremer] Wood, was born in the Woodland Community of Decatur County, Iowa, on July 7, 1917, and passed away on July 12, 2011, at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa, at the age of 94 years.

Ruth was united in marriage to Chad Leachman Petty who preceded her in death on July 10, 1977. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sandra Felts; a son, Carol "Swede" Petty; a brother, Audrey Wood; two sisters, Marjorie Penland and Wilma McLane; and by a grandson, John Hagen. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Duff (and son-in-law, John) of Van Wert, Iowa, and Sharon Hagen of Leon, Iowa; three sons, Charles Petty (and daughter-in-law, Donna) of Leon, Carl Petty (and daughter-in-law, Jean) of Lucas, Iowa, and Clarence Petty (and daughter-in-law, Missy) of Clio, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and by other relatives and friends.

Ruth lived her life in Decatur And Wayne County, Iowa, graduated from high school in Garden Grove, Iowa, and was a member of the Clio, Iowa, United Methodist Church. She loved her flowers, gardening, collecting chicken figurines, and was an avid reader.
