Obituary -

(The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa July 13, 2011)

MARK DANIEL DONAHOO ... Mark Daniel Donahoo, age 57 of Garden Grove, Iowa, son of Marvin and Mary Jane [Mitchell] Donahoo, was born June 11, 1954 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Mark died at home, after a courageous battle with cancer and under the loving care of his wife Pat, on July 7, 2011.

Mark grew up in Council Bluffs and Sioux City, Iowa, moving to Des Moines, Iowa in 1970. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines, in 1972. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army for two years. Mark was stationed in Germany and drove a tank. He was later a member of the Russell E. Marshall American Legion Post # 68 of Corydon, Iowa.

Mark met Patricia May Briggs while they were both driving "muscle cars." They were married December 20, 1975 in Des Moines and shared a wonderful marriage for over 35 years. Two children, son Brent Royce and daughter Laci Christine, were born to them.

Mark worked as a welder in metal fabrication for many years. For three years, he did ship welding in Texas. Mark and Pat returned to Des Moines in 1984 to continue raising their family. In April 1996, they began making their home in Garden Grove. Mark was a supervisor at Survivor Window Factory in Leon and was employed at Osceola Foods for 11 years.

Mark enjoyed music (especially if it was loud), watching Westerns, riding his Harley, relaxing and watching people while floating on inner tubes with Pat at Little River Lake and Nine Eagles, barbecuing fresh ham for his family and friends, and "having a beer." Mark loved hiving his family and friends over to spend quality time on the front porch, and riding with Pat on the back of his Harley on the scenic back roads. He had a special place in his heart for granddaughter Aaleah.

Known for his energy and enthusiasm for life, Mar, could talk with anybody and never met a stranger.

Preceding Mark in death were his mother, and three infant siblings, including Donny and Cindi.

Mark is survived by his wife Pat Donahoo of their home in Garden Grove; son Brent Donahoo of Conway, South Carolina; daughter Laci Donahoo and Joe Rosenberger of Des Moines; granddaughter Aaleah Boles of Leon; father Marvin Donahoo of Union, Iowa; sister Donna Musick of Des Moines; two brothers, Jim Donahoo and wife Debbie of Prairie City, Iowa and Jeff Donahoo of Des Moines; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends.
