DEATH NOTICE:

BROWN, Frances, 90, of Cantril, Iowa, formerly of Leon, Iowa, died on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua, Iowa. Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday June 27, 2011, in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril, with Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Pedrick Funeral Home, of Keosauqua is assisting the family.

Memorials to Maple Grove Cemetery may be mailed to the family at PO Box 23, Cantril, Iowa, 52542.

FRANCES BROWN ... Frances M. Brown, 90, of Cantril, Iowa, formerly of Leon, Iowa and Springfield, Missouri, passed away at 3:18 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua, Iowa.

She was born November 2, 1920 in Scotland County, MO, south of Cantril, to Dee And Sybil Rech Robinson. She graduated from Cantril High School, Taught in rural Van Buren County schools and was a social worker in Des Moines, prior to her marriage to Dr. Kenneth Brown, a long-time Leon physician.

She operated an antique shop in Leon. Dr. Brown died in 1983. Nine years later she married attorney Gail Haddock of Springfield, MO. He died in 1997 and she later returned to her hometown of Cantril.

In Leon she had been a member of Order of Eastern Star, Garden Club and was an Honorary Mother to Rainbow Girls.

Frances loved to square dance and waltz and enjoyed fishing, hunting for mushrooms and dearly loved all types of flowers, birds and dogs, especially her dog, Jon-Jon. Frances was loved by all and will be sorely missed.

Remaining to cherish her memory are a son, Tom brown (Ingrid) of British Columbia, Canada; 2 daughters, Mary Catherine Haack of Kansas City, MO and Jeanne Vigeant of Cantril; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 nephews, Ronald Robinson (Connie) of Keosauqua and Raymond Robinson (Sandra) of Nevada; other relatives and many friends. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Stanley and Eugene Robinson.
