DEATH NOTICE:

SCRIVNER, Coral Joan, 76, of Leon, Iowa, died on Sunday, May 29, 2011, at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, with Rev. Terry Roberts officiating. Burial was in Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa. Memorials may be given to the Decatur County Hospital Hospice Room.

CORAL JOAN SCRIVNER ... Coral Joan Owens Scrivner, daughter of Jack and Dorothy [Vaughn] Owens, was born in Lineville, IA on March 16, 1935. She died at Decatur County Hospital on May 29, 2011 at the age of 76 years.

Joan graduated from Lineville High School in 1953.

She married Richard (Dick) Edmond Scrivner of Leon, on December 4, 1955. Five children were born to this union: Jo Beth, Lori, Becky, Tracey, and Shannon.

Joan retired from Decatur County Hospital after 33 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed her work and helped train many nurse's aides. Joan loved working in her yard, refinishing furniture and crocheting, and watching her grandkids and great grandkids.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Dick; parents; parents-in-law; and grandson Grady.

Surviving are her daughters, Jo Beth Smith and husband Doug of Leon, IA, Lori Helling and husband Jeff of Montrose, IA, Becky Blum and husband Tom of Grimes IA, and Tracey Dale and husband Eric of Leon, and son Shannon Scrivner and wife Lorrie of Leon; 14 grandchildren: Janet, Samantha, Tony, Jeannie and husband Trae, Cindy, Danny, Keith, Kala and husband Brett, Grayson, Erin and Elise, Madison, Jack and Carson; 7 great grandchildren: Jacob, Chase and Cadence, Marianna, Kaylee and Alyssa, and Conor; sister Connie Turner and husband Gail; brother Ottie Owens and wife Mary and Jack Owens; brother-in-law Tom Scrivner and wife Georgianna; sister-in-law Joy Thorn and husband Gene; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
