JOSEPH N. BUNN passed to his final reward
at his home in Brock at l0:45
p.m., Thursday, May 4, l905, after a brief
illness.

For many years he had been a sufferer from
asthma, and had been ill for
two or three days prior to his death, but
apparently recovering, about
five o'clock Thursday evening he left the
house and was found
unconscious shortly afterward near the
house where he had fallen and
struck his head upon a plank walk. He
never again regained
consciousness, but died a few hours later.

JOSEPH NYE BUNN was born in Richland
County, Ill., August 23, l846.
While yet a boy he removed with his
parents to Decatur County, Iowa,
where he was united in marriage to EMMA E.
LOSE on Nov. 30, l865, and to
this union were born ten sons and five
daughters, of whom but four sons
and two daughters survive the father.

In the early '70s he came to Nemaha
County, locating at Peru, but
removing to Brock about l877 and he
continued to reside here until his
death. He was a veteran of the civil war,
having been a private in
Company B, l6th Iowa Infantry, and
received an honorable discharge. For
the past eighteen months he had been
engaged as a rural route carrier on
route No. 2.

He was converted and united with the
church at Pleasanton, Iowa, in
l872, and in l893 he was ordained to
preach the gospel. He was an
earnest Christian father and the happiness
of his family was one of his
foremost interests.

The funeral services were conducted by
Rev. Hatch from the Baptist
Church at l:30 p.m. Saturday, and
interment was made at Lafayette
Cemetery. The bereaved family have the
sympathy of the entire community
in their bereavement.
