DEATH NOTICE:

BENNETT, DONALD MERLE, 83, of Osceola, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola, Iowa. Graveside services were held at Maple Hill Cemetery, Saturday, October 2, at 11:00 a.m. through Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. Interment followed in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Osceola. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glaucoma Foundation, Alzheimer's Assoc. or Southern Hills Specialty Care.

DONALD MERLE BENNETT ... Donald Merle Bennett, son of Rolla Albert Bennett and Erma Amy [Troup] Bennett was born July 12, 1927 in Des Mones, Iowa and passed from this life September 29, 2010 at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola, Iowa at 83 years of age.

Don attended Des Moines Public Schools. He was united in marriage to Winifred Lois Hohn on March 3, 1985 at Afton, Iowa; she passed away in 1996. He was later united in marriage to Mamie Miller in 2000; she passed away in 2006.

Don had worked for Burlington Northern Railroad, as a truck driver for Martin Marrietta and as a school custodian Mesa, Arizona. He is most known as a school bus driver for Murray Schools where the students called him "Fuzzy". He was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Osceola, Osceola Lodge # 77 A.F. & A.M. and Ophir Chapter # 267 O.E.S.

Those relatives who preceded Don in death were his parents; wife Lois in 1996; wife Mamie in 2006; sisters, Thelma in infancy, Theda Gearhart and Dorothy Gruver.

He leaves to cherish his memory: brother, Carl Bennett and wife Lillan of New Carney Texas; aunt, Erna Mae Bennett of Cherryville, KS; four nephews; two nieces and 9 great nieces and nephews.
