LUKENBILL, DUANE LEROY "Luke", 69, of rural Lamoni, Iowa, died at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa, on Thursday, August 19, 2010. Funeral Services were held at the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2010, with Elder Bob Bjorland officiating. Burial was in the Elk Cemetery, west of Decatur, Iowa.

DUANE LeROY "LUKE" LUKENBILL ... Duane LeRoy Lukenbill, known as Luke, age 69 of rural Lamoni, Iowa, the son of Clifton Russell "Doc" and Helen Lucille Lenore [Noftsger] Lukenbill, was born April 22, 1941 on the farm home north of Lamoni in Decatur County, Iowa. He died at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa on Thursday, August 19, 2010.

He attended Wion Country School through the sixth grade and Lamoni Community Schools through high school. He started working at the Lamoni Packing Plant after high school and spent many years as a foreman. On December 15, 1961, he married Gayla Vandel. Two children, Terrie Faye and Troy Duane, were born to this union. After the Lamoni Packing Plant closed, Duane went to work for Barber Electric before starting Lukenbill Heating, Electrical, and Plumbing. He later met and married Donna Schooler in October 2004. Over the years, Duane enjoyed dancing, hunting and fishing, and always visiting with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1950 and his grandparents. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Donna Lukenbill of Lamoni; his mother Helen Gray and stepfather Lyle Gray of Lamoni; daughter Terrie Hutton and husband Stuart of Steamboat Springs, Colorado; son Troy Lukenbill of Nunn, Colorado; three grandchildren, Sarah Slaughter of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Matt Slaughter of Illinois, and Ashley Lukenbill of Grand Junction, Colorado; brother Jack Lukenbill and wife Dee of Lamoni; sister Jan Gray of Lamoni; three step daughters, Monique Schooler of Gardner Kansas, Mary Jane Schooler of Bethany, Missouri, and Nigel Karl and husband Terry of Shawnee, Kansas; sisters-in-law Dotty Johnson and husband Carrol and Jackie McLain; nieces, Jacque Harrell and husband Jon of Springfield, Missouri, Lisa Jones and husband Brad of Lamoni, and Jill Elliott of Lamoni and other relatives and many, many friends.
