BINNING, BARBARA, 78, of Lamoni and formerly of Leon, died Sunday, July 25 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will be open after noon, Wednesday, July 28 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa, with the family greeting friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 29, at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon with Doug Smith officiating. Burial following at Leon Cemetery in Leon, Iowa. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

BARBARA BINNING ... Barbara Adel Binning, age 78 of Lamoni, Iowa, was born April 14, 1932 to Ralph and Beulah [Perks] Stanford at home in Leon, Iowa. She died July 25, 2010 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Barbara was baptized in the Brethren Church at Leon, later transferring to the Leon Pentecostal Church.

She attended Leon school, where she was active in music and band.

On November 12, 1948, Barbara was united in marriage to Clair Kelly. To this union three children were born: Ronald Clair, Robert Eugene, and Jolene Ranae.

Barbara was a homemaker most of her married life, taking care of her home and her children.

On October 1, 1966, she married Gordon Binning, whom she loved and took care of.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Stanford and Beulah Hatfield; brother Bill Stanford; sisters Nadene Hall and Margaret Davis; grandson Lawrence Denver Kelly; in-laws Ralph and Lizzie Binning; brothers-in-law Kenneth Davenport and Walker Davis; and sister-in-law Margaret Stanford.

Those left to survive Barbara are her husband Gordon Binning of Lamoni; children: Ron Kelly and Flora Rice of Lamoni, Robert Kelly and wife Janet of Lamoni, and Jolene Harden and husband Dave of Surprise, Arizona; 13 grandchildren: Christina, Dean, Kevin, Amanda, Jed, Tabitha, Jeremy, Julia, Christopher, Bobbi Jo, Amy, Alan, and David; step-sons James Binning and wife Sharon of Kansas City, Missouri and Al Binning of Osceola, Iowa; 4 step-grandchildren: Sarah, Nathan, Pat, and Jill; a number of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law Ardath Hall of Leon; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
