QUAYLE, DONA, 69, of Weldon, Iowa, died Friday, June 18, 2010 at her home. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Slade O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa. Burial was at Humeston Cemetery, Humeston, Iowa. Surviving spouse is Jerry Quayle of Weldon, Iowa.

DONA MARIE QUAYLE ... Dona Marie Quayle, age 69 of Weldon, Iowa, the daughter of Neil and Eileen Marie [Potter] Cosens and her stepfather Magnus Gunderson, was born December 6, 1940 at Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She died at her home on Friday June 18, 2010.

Dona grew up in many different communities in British Columbia as her father was a saw miller. After high school, she was working for the British Columbia Telephone Company when she met Jerry lee Quayle, who was stationed there for the United States military. They were married in October 1959 in Vancouver. They were blessed with two daughters, Terry and Kim. Dona was a stay at home wife and mother while they moved to many different cities throughout the United States during Jerry's 21 years of military service. After Jerry retired Dona worked as an electronic technician for General Dynamics in fort Worth, Texas for almost 27 years. They then movedto Weldon, Iowa to be close to Jerry's parents in their final years.

Dona was a proud woman who lived to shop, enjoyed dancing, and was very particular about her appearance. She was an avid reader and enjoyed helping Jerry with his wintertime puzzles until her eyesight started to fail.

Preceding her in death were her parents; stepfather; parents-in-law, Claude and Edna Quayle; and her brother-in-law Leon Quayle.

Survivors include her husband of fifty years, Jerry Quayle of Weldon; daughters, Terry Dudley of Murray, Iowa and Kim Quayle of Grand Rapids, Michigan; grandsons, Dustin Fretwell and Travis Dudley; sister Leona & Frank Firmonski of Burns Lake, British Columbia; and other relatives and friends.
