CUMMINGS, Virginia "Genny", 54, of Decatur, Iowa, died at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa on June 10, 2010. A memorial visitation was held at the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa, on Sunday, June 13, 2010 from 1-3 p.m. with a luncheon and more visiting held at the Poor Boys Lounge in Decatur Following.

VIRGINIA SUE CUMMINGS ... Virginia Sue Cummings, age 54, of Decatur, Iowa, the daughter of Robert Gene and Mildred Virginia [Hadding] Cummings, was born November 6, 1955 at Nevada, Iowa. She left this life on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa.

As a child Genny, as she was known, attended School in Nevada and Maxwell, Iowa before the family moved to Leon, Iowa in 1969. Genny graduated from Central Decatur High School in 1973. Most of the time she lived in Decatur County was spent on the family farm south of Decatur. She loved the outdoors where she enjoyed mowing and animals. She also liked to sew, quilt, read and cook. She loved to bowl with her league team and her daughter. She enjoyed helping other people however she could.

Over the years Genny worked in the Leon Liquor store, did auto detailing work, and cleaned at interstate rest areas before starting a 25 years job with the Iowa Department of Transportation for Clarke and Decatur Counties. She thought driving the snowplow in a blizzard was very peaceful.

Preceding her in death were her parents and great niece Cassandra Fiala. Survivors include her daughter, Teela Waugh and husband Clint of Leon; grandchildren, Mili and Beau Waugh; siblings, Donna & Art Borton and Bonita Fleming, all of Nevada, Iowa, Bob & Jeanene Cummings of Marion, Iowa, Letia & Lowell Martin of Van Wert, Iowa, Rodger & Brenda Cummings of Maxwell, Iowa, Karla & Jack Merten of Mitchellville, Iowa, Steve Cummings & Marcie Saxton of Weldon, Iowa, and Vicki & Sam King of Bethany, Missouri; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
