NELLIE J. HELTON ... Nellie J. Helton, daughter of Lovey Shirley and John W. Slover, Was born June 29, 1889, on a farm near Goshen, Mo., in Mercer County. She passed away November 21, 1967, at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa, at the age of 78 years 4 months and 12 days, after an extended illness of four months. She was converted to the Christian faith at the age of 13 and was a member of the Freedom Church, attending church services when her health permitted.

She was united in marriage to Benjamin H. Helton, October 8, 1910. The immediate family includes her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Larkin Seymour, Cainsville, Mo.: two sons, Lloyd Helton, Gilman City, Mo., and Lester Helton, Nettleton, Mo. A son, John Wayne Helton, preceded her in death, Dec. 1, 1965.

Her mother, father and two brothers Roy Slover and Carl Slover also preceded her in death.

She leaves to mourn her passing, a sister, Mrs. Ethel Kindred, Marion, Oregon. Two brothers: Earl Slover, Scio, Oregon and Lee Slover, Nampo, Idaho. She also leaves 21 grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, Neices, Cousins and friends.

Mrs. Helton requested the following scripture be read in the funeral services, " I am the Resurrection, and the Life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall be live."

Services were held at the Freedom Church, northeast of Cainsville. November 24. Rev Norris Ramsey and Rev Max Carmichael officiated. Burial was in Freedom Cemetery.

Pallbearers -- Phillip Helton, John Helton, Steven Helton, James Helton, Robert Helton, David Helton.
