Harriett Elizabeth Petty was born in Miami County, Indiana, on September 17, 1849, and departed this life on August 26, 1928, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 9 days, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. C. Girdner, Saline, Mo.

She was united in marriage to John LaFollette in the year of 1867. To this union eleven children were born. They are as follows: Willie M., Saline, Mo.; George B., Des Moines, Iowa; Charles P., Weldon, Iowa; Leonard, Leon, Iowa; Albert A., Letcher, South Dakota; Clara Naomi, deceased; Emmett E., Osceola, Iowa; Lawrence R., deceased; Clarence E., deceased; Holice Leroy, deceased; Earl, Leon, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to John R. Helton in the year of 1890 and to this union two children were born. They are: Bennie H., Yarmouth, Iowa; Mrs. Belle Girdner, Saline, Mo.

At an early age she was converted in a meeting held by Bro. Elmore in a log school house, and has lived a consistent Christian the remainder of her days. She expressed before her death that she was ready to go when the Master called for her.

She leaves to mourn her death 9 children, 38 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services ere held at the Freedom Church on Monday at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Elba Dale, of Pleasanton, Iowa and interment was made in the cemetery nearby.
