HARDY, Nelson Neal "PeeWee", 58, of Woodburn, Iowa, died October 27, 2005 at his home in Woodburn. Funeral services will be held today, 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 2 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon with Pastor Pat Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Grand River Cemetery, Grand River, Iowa, with Military Honors by Herndon-Oehlert American Legion Post #158 of Woodburn.

NELSON NEAL HARDY ... Nelson Neal "PeeWee" Hardy was born September 29, 1947 in Pekin, Illinois to Wayne Roderick "Pete" and Mildred Evelyn "Peggy" [Sage] Hardy. He was the sixth of nine children. Neal passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2005 at his home in Woodburn, Iowa at the age of 58 years.

Neal grew up and attended school at Grand Valley, graduating from Kellerton in 1966. Neal served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from November 9, 1966 until October 30, 1968.

After his honorable discharge, Neal returned to Grand River, Iowa. He worked for Bob Jimmerson at Jimmerson Service. Neal later lived with his sister and brother-in-law, Steve and Linda Grose, in Creston, Iowa. He enjoyed helping Steve in the shop with farm equipment.

Neal did "lots of spoiling" with his nieces and nephews. He babysat his two nieces. He liked giving his nieces and nephews motorcycle rides. Neal enjoyed visiting and having coffee with his friends and family. He liked watching T.V. and watching people work on vehicles. In younger years, Neal and his brothers went squirrel hunting together.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bob Hardy; and brother-in-law Clyde Stanley.

Neal leaves behind to celebrate his life four brothers: John and Delores Hardy of Osceola, Iowa, Bill Hardy of Van Wert, Iowa, Dennis "Butch" Hardy of Woodburn, and Lee and Charlotte Hardy of Powell, Wyoming; three sisters: Sue Stanley of Cody, Wyoming, Goldie and Bill Rhodes of Gilbert, Iowa, and Linda and Steve Grose of Wright, Wyoming; sister-in-law Carolyn Hardy of Dallas Center, Iowa; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
