Al Cain Hall, son of John and Sarah Hall, was born in Knox County, Illinois on the 19th day of April 1878, and come to Iowa with his parents when only two years of age. Nearly all his life has been spent in Decatur County, Iowa, where he grew to manhood and made his farm home.

On July 1, 1904, he was married to Miss Nora Warrick of Clarke County, Iowa. To this union was born fourteen children: Sarah, of whom died in infancy. The beloved wife and thirteen children remain to mourn his departure. The children are: Mrs. Wilma Fry and Olive McConnell of Van Wert, Mrs. Irene Woosley of Creston, Mrs. Lela McBroom and William Hall of Van Wert and Mrs. Ruby Grimm of Creston, Rolly, Milburn, Arthur, Lawrence, Ira, Ora and Dora who are at home. Besides these he leaves an aged mother, his brother, Henry Hall, and four sisters, Josie Fry and Clara Collins of Van Wert, Dora Palmer of Lamoni and Lydia Warrick of Corydon. Also, twelve grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

For many years Cain has been in failing health and passed away on August 2, 1936 at the age of fifty-eight years, three months and one day.

Funeral services were held August 4 at Mt. Zion Church northeast of Gerand River and the body bourn to its last resting place in the Wheelis Cemetery by his six eldest sons, H.O. Tuttle, a lifelong friend officiating.
