WION, Dwight L. "Poose", 74, of Leon, Iowa, died June 9, 2006 at Lamoni Nursing and rehab Center in Lamoni, Iowa. funeral services were held June 13 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon with the Rev. Terry Roberts Officiating. Burial was in Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, Iowa.

DWIGHT WION ... Dwight L. "Pooze" Wion, age 74 of Leon, Iowa, son of Frederick Henry and Byrdie Opal [Akers] Wion, was born July 6, 1931 in Decatur County, Iowa and died peacefully on June 9, 2006 at Lamoni Nursing and Rehab Center in Lamoni, Iowa.

Dwight married Bernita Arlene Bryant on August 8, 1952. To this union four children were born: Alan Dwight, Kathy Ann, Cheryl Marie, and William Frederick.

Dwight farmed in the Lamoni area for many years. He also drove a maintainer for Decatur County and was a truck driver. Dwight loved raising and training horses. All his children were active helping on the farm and raising horses.

When he was able, Dwight enjoyed horseback riding. He liked watching westerns on T.V. Dwight especially enjoyed having his family around him and visits by the grandkids and great grandkids.

Dwight was baptized at the Methodist Church in Lamoni.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Byrdie Wion; daughter Cheryl Wion; great grandson Blake Aydan Horn; sister Peggy Wion; brother Leslie Wion; brother-in-law Pete Peters; and sister-in-law Mary Maude Wion.

Dwight is survived by his wife Bernita Wion of Leon; children: Alan Wion of Leon, Kathy Norman and husband Gale of Decatur, Iowa, and William "Willie" Wion and companion Nancy Burton of Leon; 6 grandchildren: Kenny, Tiffany, and James Wion of Washington State, Micki Horn and husband Tim of Leon, Carol Wion of Leon, and Dawniel Showers of Leon; two great granddaughters, Haylee and Malloree Horn of Leon; 7 great grandsons; 3 brothers: Myles and Gerald Wion of Lamoni and William D. Wion and wife Geri of Tucson, Arizona; sister Margaret Peters of Oskaloosa, Iowa; sister-in-law Nancy Wion of Independence, Missouri; brother-in-law Wayne Bryant and wife Roma of Leon; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
