(The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa December 28, 2005)

ZEISS, Kim, 47, of Leon, Iowa, died Thursday, December 22, 2005 at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 28 at Trinity Christian church west of Decatur, Iowa with pastor Terry Roberts officiating. Kim was cremated, and burial will follow the service at Trinity Hills Cemetery next to the church. Arrangements are through Slade-O'Donnell funeral Home of Leon.

Surviving are her husband Ron Zeiss, an officer with the Leon Police Department, and her sons Zach and Josh Zeiss, all of Leon.

KIM ANN ZEISS .. Kim Ann Zeiss, age 47 of Leon, Iowa, daughter of Wayne and Lois [Hampton] Brockett, was born March 10, 1958 in Peoria, Illinois and died from cancer on December 22, 2005 at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon.

Kim's father was a Pentecostal minister. He had a church in Peoria and did Sunday radio services there. Kim actively grew up in the church and was baptized by her dad at the age of 12 in Mapleton, Illinois.

When Kim was young, the family moved to the Long Beach area of Los Angeles, California. She graduated from high school there and attended a year of college. Kim then worked several places, including the phone company and telemarketing firm.

She married Ronald Parker Zeiss, Jr., who had just finished service in the U.S. Navy. Two sons, Zachary Rex and Joshua Wayne, were born to Kim and Ron. Both boys were born in San Diego. At that time Kim worked as a purchasing agent for the Richard Young Prosthetic Company, which made artificial limbs.

In 1992 the family moved to the Lucerne, Missouri area. Kim worked for Premium Standard Farms as a purchasing agent. They moved to rural Leon in 2000, where Ron is currently a police officer with the Leon Police Department. Kim liked living on their acreage - being out in the County and having a variety of animals. She and the boys enjoyed their time together taking care of cats, dogs, goats, donkeys, and rabbits.

Kim was a great wife and mom, who loved her husband and sons and was devoted to them. She attended Zach and Josh's football games, basketball games, and wrestling matches whenever possible. Kim was also active in their other school affairs. she was always on the go and was organized.

Kim also liked to shop. She especially liked the family trips that she, Ron, Zach, and Josh took - to Branson, South Dakota, and other places. Kim and Ron had special memories of their company trips to Las Vegas and Caribbean Cruise while Ron worked for Consolidated.

Kim was a member of Trinity Christian Church of Decatur.

She was preceded in death by her father Wayne Brockett and her brother Eric Brockett.

Kim is survived by her husband Ron Zeiss, Jr. and sons Zach and Josh Zeiss of their home in Leon; mother Lois Brockett of Bellflower, California; sister Jan Brockett and husband Dave, niece Kelly Brockett, and nephew Michael Brockett, all of Lakewood, California; father-in-law and mother-in-law Ron Zeiss, Sr. and Lure Lee Zeiss of Seymour, Iowa; sister-in-law Shawn Faries and nieces Shannon, Ashley, and Jeana Faries, all of Omaha, Nebraska; and other relatives and many friends.
