Decatur County Journal
Leon, Iowa
Thursday, April 18, 1914

Sister NANCY E. ARGO, whose maiden name was MARRS, died at the family home
four miles east of Pleasanton, Iowa, April 15, 1914, aged 57 years, four
months and 17 days. The memorial services were conducted by the writer at
the late home on Friday, April 17 at 2:30 p.m., an appropriate lesson being
read from Romans 8:1-17. Text Jer. 31:2. Several hymns were tenderly
rendered. A deeply sympathetic audience was present to comfort the bereaved
husband and children, the parting look taken and the flower covered casket
taken to the Gammon (sic) Cemetery and laid to rest, embalmed in the tears of
those who knew and loved her.

NANCY E. MARRS was born in Harrison County, Mo., December 28, 1858; was the
daughter of THOMAS and MILLIE MARRS. She was married to A.D. ARGO in 1875.
To this union were born nine children, three of whom preceded her to the
Spirit land. The others are too well known to need an introduction here.
She also leaves two adopted grandchildren who will miss her tender care, and
also thirteen other grandchildren. All was done that skill or affection
could suggest, but the tyrant of our race triumphed. But her house was in
order. She had confessed her faith in Christ in 1899, and had lived a
consistent Christian life, and was a faithful member of the Christian Union
Church. She was an all round good woman, in all the relations of life,
beloved and respected by all who knew her. Need more be said? Can more be
said? She leaves her immediate family, four brothers and two sisters, who
are widely scattered, but whose hearts will bleed as they learn of this
death. At her own request, we conducted this service. May the Lord comfort
all that are bereft in this death, is my prayer for Jesus sake.

-- Her Brother in Christ,

J.H. BURROWS.

Unfortunately, none of her children or other relatives' names are given here..
She is buried in the Gammill Cemetery -- not Gammon.
