DEATH NOTICE:

(The Leon Journal-Reporter Leon, Iowa November 14, 2007)

MANCHESTER, Curtis H., died November 9, 2007 at Golden Living Center in Rogers. Funeral Services were held November 12 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa with Pastor Cass Young officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Lineville, Iowa.

CURTIS MANCHESTER ... Curtis H. Manchester, age 89 of Rogers, Arkansas, son of Isaac and Verna A. [Parsons] Manchester, was born September 17, 1918 in Decatur County, Iowa and died November 9, 2007 at Golden Living Center in Rogers.

Curtis married Lindabelle Moore on June 22, 1940 in Corydon, Iowa. They had one son, Grant Dewayne. After they were married Lindabelle lived in Leon, Iowa. During this time Curt worked for a construction company contractor in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands during World War II, doing military work.

They then made their home in Des Moines, Iowa, where Curt had a long career with the Iowa Highway Commission as a surveyor and supervisor. He retired in 1981 after 39 years of service. Lindabelle worked for Meredith Publishing as an office supervisor, retiring in 1982.

Following retirement, Curt and Lindabelle moved to Rogers, Arkansas in 1982. They have made their home in Rogers the past 25 years. They loved to fish together, especially at Beaver Lake. Curt got his real estate license and enjoyed being a real estate salesperson in the Rogers area.

Curt and Lindabelle were members of the Baptist Church in Rogers.

Preceding Curt in death were hes parents; brother Pearl Manchester; and two sisters, Cuba Jenkins and Hazel Hubbard.

Surviving are Curt's wife of 67 years, Lindabelle Manchester of Rogers; son Dewayne Manchester and wife Shirley of Riverview, Florida; and other relatives and friends.
